The Device Kindle 2 is a truly “amazing” product. So far I have read several books, downloaded some MP3 music and have subscribed to one Blog. Flawless delivery of content. It’s amazing to watch the speed and control the Wispernet software provides. The E-ink technology is the deal maker though. No HRZ refreshing rate to send you into rough water syndrome. Barnes and Noble should take heed on this one for their new reader software. Oh yes, the missing star.
About a month into the Device Kindle 2 experience I did have a problem. The unit quit charging and Wispernet kept turning itself off and wouldn’t update. Perplexed, I contacted Amazon over their phone support (very well done Amazon). Narrowing the issues down with “Jon” the service rep. Amazon decided to replace my unit. Everything was done in a Wispernet (sorry). I had my new Device Kindle 2 the next day and as with the first unit, my account was updated and I didn’t have to do a thing except send the original Device Kindle 2 back on Amazon’s dime (30 days).
All of my content on the Device Kindle 2 “first” was downloaded to the new Device Kindle 2 the minute I turned it on. Bottom line on the failure, The USB connection on the bottom of the Device Kindle 2 probably failed. As this is a mobile device, strength of components is primary (albeit the drop test). Overall, the “Kindle” is THE book reader of choice. All of the other book reader companies (Hardware, software) should really take a hard look. The Device Kindle 2 reader AND Device Kindle 2 support will be very hard to beat in deed.
