my leopard geck was sick with something, but hes not anymore.
The problem is that he is still refusing to eat, ive srynged him some mashed waxworms and they all pass through fine, but i dont want him to become totally reliant on that coz its stressful and time-consuming.
Ive tried crickets/ locusts/ waxworms/ mealworms, he sees them and acknowledges their presence but never pounces, just kinda licks them and loses intrest.
anything i can do to kindle his appetite? hes started losing a lot of weight from his tail/belly and i dont reckon hes got long left. any help much appriciated
One word – VET.
The fact you said he was ill with “something” implies you have already been neglectful of your responsibility as a pet owner.
At the vet he can have a look at him, tell you if there is any physical reason for him not eating and prescribe proper medicines.
Even if there is nothing medically wrong with him, the vet can prescribe appetite stimulants.
Atm you are risking him either becoming dependant or dying – his chance of full recovery and being independent like before his illness is getting smaller every day.
If you cannot get him the treatment he needs and deserves you need to find him a rescue home asap.
Please do not buy a replacement if he dies because, to be blunt, you are not responsible enough.
